COLUMBUS, Ohio (FOX 13) - An Ohio lawmaker has filed a bill that would make it illegal to smoke in a vehicle if a child under the age of six is a passenger.
Sen. Tina Maharath of Franklin County introduced the bill, SB-78, earlier this month into the Ohio legislature. The fine for the first violation would be $500, reports FOX 8 in Cleveland. A repeat offender would face another $500, plus $250 for each subsequent violation.
The bill says, "'smoke' means to inhale, exhale, burn or carry any lighted cigar, cigarette, pip or other lighted smoking device for burning tobacco or any other plant."
