Officers searching for suspected DUI motorist in Pacomia who led police on chase

PACOIMA, Calif. (FOX 11) - Police Monday chased a suspected drunken driver to a Pacoima neighborhood, where the man got out of his vehicle and ran off.

Patrol officers said they spotted an older model Yukon SUV on the 5 South Freeway driving erratically. They attempted to pull the driver over but he didn't stop and a pursuit ensued.

The brief chase led to the area of Montague Street and Haddon Avenue about 3:45 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department reported. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and made a run for it. Patrol officers were running right behind him, but he was able to evade capture.

Officers set up a perimeter and looked for the man, who remained at large several hours afterward.

Teams of K9 officers were brought in to search the neighborhood as several people called police to report a prowler in their backyard. Police believe that prowler was actually their suspect trying to get away.

The suspect now faces felony evading and DUI charges.
