(FOX NEWS INSIDER) - You might have already heard of Sgt. John Cain, the Savannah police officer who helped a marathon runner make it to the finish line in a moment of need.

Now, Cain himself is asking for help, after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just before Christmas. He needs surgery but his insurance won't cover all of it.
Cain says he's determined to win this fight and will pull inspiration from that moment that he helped the runner cross the finish line.
"I can feel myself getting weaker and weaker every day," told WTOC. "As I get closer to that finish line, I know that there will be people that come and pick me up and help me cross that finish line. I will be the winner when it comes down to it."
You can donate on Cain's GoFundMe page to help cover some of those costs. They've set a goal of $200,000 and have a long way to go.
His family has also set up a Facebook page where you can show your support.
