Now THAT'S a big burger! Hawkins House of Burgers in Watts

WATTS, Calif. (FOX 11) - Burgers have been sizzling on the grill at Hawkins House of Burgers in Watts for many years.

Owner Cynthia Hawkins says, "Since 1939, we've been here in Los Angeles in Watts California taking care of the community."

On a regular basis, Cynthia feeds the homeless, the elderly, hires local Watts residents to work in her kitchen and she gives discounts to her loyal customers. "At the end of the month, when the money gets really small for the neighborhood, we're here for them, we have a $1.99 end of the month special," says Cynthia.

But Watts residents aren't the only ones loving these burgers. This little hole in the wall across from one of the oldest housing projects in LA County, is known worldwide for having the tastiest and juiciest burgers around. People have come from Australia, New Zealand, London, New York , Paris and Quatar to enjoy a Hawkins Burger.

The burger that gets the most attention is the Hawkins Special also known as the "Leaning Tower Of Watts." It's HUGE and clearly only for extremely large appetites.

Cynthia says, "Good food attracts everybody."
