North Texas teacher's new homework policy goes viral

A letter sent out to parents about a North Texas teacher's new homework policy is going viral after it was posted to social media.

A pleased parent posted the letter she received from a Godley Elementary School second grade teacher to her Facebook page.

The letter read:

"After much research this summer, I am trying something new. Homework will only consist of work that your student did not finish during the school day. There will be no formally assigned homework this year.

Research had been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. Rather, I ask that you spend your evenings doing things that are proven to correlate with student success. Eat dinner as a family, read together, play outside, and get your child to bed early."

The parent posted a picture of the letter saying her daughter was loving her new teacher already.

The post has been shared more than 60,000 times and was also posted to Reddit.
