Newborn baby found dead on San Bernardino sidewalk
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Police are asking anyone with information to come forward after a newborn was found dead on a San Bernardino sidewalk earlier this month.
The baby boy was found on Dec. 3 in the 100 block of North I Street after a concerned citizen called 911.
"The newborn appeared to be in the early stages of decomposition and was wrapped in female clothing," Detective Chavez with the San Bernardino Police Department said.
Initial evidence suggests the baby's mother put him in a blue reusable grocery bag and took him to the location where he was found. The bag was located next to the newborn, police said.
"Police are concerned for the mother's well-being and want to ensure the mother has the appropriate support and medical attention if needed," police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Chavez at 909-384-6537. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call 1-800-78-CRIME.
