The crash occurred in the 1200 block of Truman Street around 2:15 a.m., said a Los Angeles Police Department officer who was familiar with incident because it began in the city of Los Angeles.

The motorcyclist was the suspect in a shots-fired incident in nearby Sun Valley and had been pursued by LAPD officers, according to broadcast reports.

He had reportedly reached speeds of 130 miles per hour.

The force of the motorcycle's impact sheared the fire hydrant, according to broadcast reports. The motorcyclist died at the scene.
