Mother's Day 2018 gift ideas that give back to others

Hannah Skvarla is Lauren Conrad's co-founder of LA-based company, The Little Market -- an online marketplace of beautiful items for your home, closet and beyond that are handmade by women across the globe.

With each purchase from their online shop, The Little Market, a registered 501c3 nonprofit, reinvests all profits directly into the creation of jobs in low-income communities -- reaching as far and wide as Ghana, and as local as Downtown LA.

Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla met in 2006 while studying at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and quickly connected over their shared love of design, wanderlust and desire to empower women.

They became travel buddies, and jetted off to explore the colorful, local markets of Bali and El Salvador, meeting the most vibrant, hard-working women along the way. It was so apparent to them both that they knew they needed to find a way to connect these artisans and their beautiful work to a broader audience, and thus The Little Market was founded in 2013 and registered as an independent nonprofit, charitable organization 501(c)3.

As the company approaches its fifth anniversary - to be marked by the opening of their first-ever brick + mortar location here in Los Angeles later this year - they've expanded the number of artisan groups they support and have grown their selection to feature an adorable array of gifts that give back for every occasion, with a special lineup of products for this Mother's Day.

Skvarla - who's two weeks away from becoming a mama of two - joined us on Good Day LA with ideas for all of you looking for that perfect last-minute gift.
