Mayor Garcetti announces partnership with L.A. Compact to support class of 2020

Spring is often times referred to as prom and graduation season… but due to the coronavirus pandemic the class of 2020 is experiencing a very unique year.

“The class of 2020 has had to trade in caps and gowns for masks and gloves,” stated Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

Thursday evening the mayor announced a new partnership between the city and L.A. Compact to help connect students with counselors from their accepted college, high school, or a local nonprofit organization.

Mayor Garcetti spent much of Thursday’s daily press briefing talking to the class of 2020 and assuring them that despite these difficult times help is out there.

Garcetti says students can sign into the new website www.lacompact.org/covidcollegeconnect write down their comments, questions and concerns and within hours a trusted counselor will help them.

“We have your back, we got you. We are not going to let this disease crush your dreams,” the mayor added.
