Man in his 90s accused of gunning down wife in South LA

Authorities identified the 73-year-old woman who police say was shot by her husband during an argument in a South Los Angeles home.

The Valentine's Day shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. at the home in the area of 60th Street and Vermont Avenue, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

The woman, identified by the county coroner's office as Jenell Gamble- Kendrick of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband, a man in his 90s, was arrested, Lopez said.

The man's identity has not been released.

The shotgun believed to have been used in the slaying was recovered, Lopez said.

The victim and the suspect were the only residents at home at the time of the shooting, according to ABC7. A relative had been at the house earlier in the evening but left before the incident, investigators told the station.
