Man climbs power pole causing street to shut down in South L.A.

Central Avenue between Adams and 24th Street in South L.A. is shut down to traffic after a man acting erratically and carrying a wooden stick climbed up a power pole Thursday night.

LAPD says the man is in his 50s but have not identified him. The incident began unfolding shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of E. Adams Boulevard.

It's unknown how long the street closure will be in effect. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes.
