Man arrested for shooting arrows at cars in Big Bear

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Big Bear Lake for shooting a bow and arrows at cars earlier this month, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department said.

The Big Bear Sheriff's station received a call on August 18 about a man sitting on the hatch of a truck who was pointing and shooting a bow and arrow into the street at cars near the intersection of North Sierra Avenue and North Shore Drive.

Jathon Musella, 37, of Big Bear City was arrested on a felony charge of willfully projecting an object at a vehicle (San Bernardino Sheriffs Department)

Arriving deputies located Jathon Musella in possession of bows and arrows. However, upon their arrival, Musella was not actively pointing or shooting them.

Deputies were unable to find damage in the immediate area.

Detectives later served a search warrant on Aug. 23 around 2:30 p.m. at a home located in the 100 block of East North Shore Drive. They seized several bows, as well as bolts with arrow tips.

Musella was taken into custody and booked into the Big Bear Jail on a felony charge of willfully projecting an object at a vehicle with the intent to cause great bodily injury, SBSD said.

He is currently in custody on a $25,000 bail.

His arraignment is set for Aug. 27 at the San Bernardino County Superior Court.
