WESTWOOD, CA (CNS/FOX11) - Police descended on a Westwood apartment building today when a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend was armed with a gun inside her residence when she arrived home.
The woman said she went home to her apartment in the 1000 block of Tiverton Avenue, near the UCLA campus, about 4 p.m. to find her ex-boyfriend, who was armed with a handgun, inside the unit with another person, Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said.
The suspect was believed to be barricaded inside the apartment, but when the complex was swept by a SWAT team and K-9 units about 8:30 p.m., the suspect was not found, police said.
She called 911 and officers responded to the scene, Lopez said. A stretch of Tiverton Avenue was shut down as police investigated, according to reports from the scene.
