Lockdown lifted at South LA middle school after report of man with gun

John Muir Middle School in South Los Angeles was locked down Monday amid reports of a man with a gun on campus, but a search failed to turn up a suspect.

Police received a report of a possible armed suspect on the campus at 1:43 p.m., prompting the lockdown of the campus at 5929 S. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera said.

Police searched the campus, but failing to locate a suspect, the lockdown was lifted by about 3 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
