Local self-taught street artist creates empowering characters

SOUTH GATE, Calif. (FOX 11) - Local artist named 'Sand One' creates cartoon-like dolls with big eyelashes and even bigger attitudes out of her East LA studio.

Each character has a story and a struggle- they are 'Street Divas' with empowering messages to take control of their lives, leave abusive relationships and start their own businesses and they are resonating with women.

Sand One started creating murals and recently opened her own boutique in South Gate.
