Palisades Fire burns home in Mandeville Canyon as Brentwood residents evacuate
LOS ANGELES - The Palisades Fire continues to spread in Los Angeles County into the weekend, after a flare-up Friday night forced expanded evacuation orders and road closures, as the flames now threaten the Brentwood/Mendeville Canyon and Encino areas.
KEY PALISADES FIRE FACTS:
- Acreage burned: 23,713 acres.
- Containment: 13%.
- Structures destroyed: At least 5,316 (includes automobiles).
- Homes destroyed: At least 426 homes.
- Deaths: Seven confirmed, according to the County Medical Examiners office.
- Displaced: More than 100,000 people have been displaced.
- Cause: Remains under investigation.
The Palisades Fire is one of several massive blazes still burning throughout Los Angeles County, including the Eaton Fire in the Altadena and Pasadena area, the Kenneth Fire in the West Hills area and the Hurst Fire near Sylmar.
The Palisades Fire is already the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history.

The Palisades Fire originated in Los Angeles' Pacific Palisades neighborhood, and the flames have since spread from as far west as Malibu to as far east as Bel Air.
Palisades Fire Evacuations
Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued in the cities of Malibu, Los Angeles and Santa Monica, as well as many unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. As the flames spread eastward Friday night, the Los Angeles Fire Department issued new orders and warnings stretching past the 405 Freeway approaching Bel Air.
Mandatory evacuation zone:
- From the Pacific Ocean (west) to the 405 Freeway (east), San Vicente Boulevard (south), and Encino Reservoir (north).
New evacuation warnings:
- Sunset Boulevard (south) to Mulholland Drive (north), Bellagio Road/Roscomare Road (east) to the 405 Freeway (west).
- Mulholland/Sepulveda Boulevard (south) to Ventura Boulevard (north), the 405 Freeway (east) to Louise Avenue (west).

Road Closures

Several off-ramps on the 405 Freeway have been closed, including:
- Southbound I-405 Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp
- Southbound 1-405 Valley Vista Boulevard off-ramp
- Getty Center Drive off-ramps in both directions
- Skirball Center Drive off-ramps in both directions
- Southbound Sunset Boulevard off-ramp
- Southbound Wilshire Boulevard off-ramp
- Southbound Santa Monica Boulevard off-ramp
- Southbound Olympic/Pico Boulevard off-ramp
Portions of PCH are also closed, including:
- Southbound lanes at Civi Center
- Northbound lanes at McClure Tunnel
Interstate 10
- Westbound I-10 closed at Lincoln Boulevard
- Westbound I-10 4th and 5th Street on ramps closed
Topanga Canyon Boulevard
- Fully closed between PCH and Mulholland Drive.
Other road closures include:
- Mulholland Hwy at Stunt Rd
- Topanga Canyon Blvd at Mulholland Dr
- Malibu Canyon Rd at Piuma Rd
- Topanga Canyon Blvd at Entrado Dr
- Piuma Rd at Woodbluff Rd
Community Meeting
The first in-person community meetings addressing the Palisades Fire will happen Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in two locations:
- Calvary Westlake (5495 Via Rocas Westlake Village)
- Oaks Gymnasium (31749 La Tienda Road Westlake Village)
Agency officials will be in attendance to help assist the community with their immediate needs. The meeting will be live-streamed on CAL FIRE’s YouTube channel.
Curfew
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has issued a mandatory curfew from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m daily in all evacuation areas throughout LA County.
