LAPD search for robbery suspects in the Palms area
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - A heavy police presence was witnessed in the area of National Boulevard and Irene Street in the Palms area Thursday afternoon as LAPD searched for robbery suspects.
Police set up a perimeter in the area with air support helping in the search. At least one person was taken into custody, Los Angeles police paid at the time.
LAPD says officers received a report of an armed robbery that had occurred near the 3200 block of Motor Avenue. They say a witness reported at least two teens trying to rob someone with a handgun.
An officer patrolling in the area came upon the incident and gave chase to one suspect on foot, according to LAPD. A handgun has been recovered by authorities.
Police later broke down the perimeter they had set up in the area of Overland Boulevard between National and Rose Avenue. It was unclear if any other suspects were caught.
