L.A. police sergeant arrested in Long Beach on suspicion of DUI
LONG BEACH, Calif. (FOX 11) - A Los Angeles police sergeant was arrested in Long Beach Tuesday night on suspicion of DUI.
He has been identified as 46-year-old Oscar Ontiveros of San Pedro.
The Long Beach Police Department says on March 5, officers were called to the 1500 block of E. Ocean Boulevard just at about 7:20 p.m. to a reported hit-and-run.
No injuries were reported in the crash. Responding officers located two parked cars that had been hit and got a description of the suspect's car. The Long Beach Police Department says about 10 minutes later, a witness called to report they had spotted a car in the 200 block of Alamitos Avenue that matched the description of the suspect vehicle.
Police quickly located the male driver who appeared to be under the influence, LBPD said. The driver was taken into custody. Ontiveros was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and a hit-and-run without injury. He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
According to the LAPD's website, Ontiveros is a former senior lead officer. He was not on duty at the time of the crash.
LBPD says Ontiveros is listed as a "police sergeant" in the booking log.
