Knott's Berry Farm debuts roller coaster with state's steepest drop

Thrill-seekers will be flocking to Knott's Berry Farm beginning Friday to try out the park's newest roller coaster, HangTime, which is billed as having the steepest coaster drop in California.

HangTime begins by lifting riders to the top of a 15-story peak, where it comes to an eerie pause before plummeting into a 96-degree drop, billed as the steepest in the state.

As it moves through 2,189 feet of track at speeds pushing 60 mph, riders will find themselves inverted five times. And they'll also be treated to a "negative-g stall loop,'' giving riders the sensation of floating. Knott's officials said HangTime is only the second roller coaster in the Western Hemisphere to include such a feature.
