Josh Kelly on Lifetime series 'UnREAL' and his real-life Army Ranger past

Actor Josh Kelly stopped by Good Day LA Tuesday to promote his current drama series "UnREAL" on Lifetime.

"UnREAL" gives a fake behind-the-scenes glimpse into the chaos surrounding the production of a dating competition program, called "Everlasting." Kelly stars as camera operator Jeremy Caner, who is later promoted to director of photography and is bitter over a broken heart by the show's producer.

Kelly, 34, is perhaps best known for his (shirtless) role as Cutter Wentworth on the soap "One Life To Live."

In his real life, Kelly has experienced an incredible amount of drama. He did three tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq as an Army Ranger.

"I sort of joined the army because I wanted to do action movies, and I wanted to see if I could really do it," he said.

How is that for method acting?

Watch the full interview above -- and "UnREAL" airs Mondays at 10 p.m.
