Investigators seek answers in fatal hit-and-run outside Mid-City hospital

Police were investigating a deadly hit-and-run that occurred outside a hospital in Mid-City Friday morning.

A man in his 60s was struck outside Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center located on Cadillac Avenue near the intersection of Venice Boulevard around 2:30 a.m., police said.

The caller said they witnessed a vehicle hit a pedestrian in the Northbound lanes of Cadillac Ave.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and discovered a body in the roadway with no vehicle in sight. They attempted to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Venice Blvd. was closed while detectives conducted their investigation. All lanes were re-opened by 7:00 a.m.

A description of the involved vehicle or a suspect was not immediately available.
