Horses, women and art! Who could ask for more?
It's called Bareback: Symmetry in Motion, An Equine Exhibition, and it promises to be one of the coolest art shows around. Studio C Gallery, in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District is dedicated to exhibiting the work of women artists.
For this show, they are bringing some of the best artwork; not only to showcase the impacting work of the females point of view in art form, but to benefit some of the hardest working horse rescue non-profits around. The Wild Horse Sanctuary and Return to Freedom, deal with the ongoing destruction of wild horse and burro herds to make space for the cattle industry in the United States.
So, it's not just about really cool art (you ever tried to draw a horse?!). Or about meeting some amazing artists, "it's about gratitude" says the woman behind Studio C Gallery, Peggy Nichols.
She happens to be an equestrian herself, who explains " our intention is to bring inspiration through art and education through awareness" in this case, not only of the artwork, but of an issue that is seriously affecting an animal that has helped advance humanity. The history of man is shared with a long list of domesticated animals, and the horse is high up on that list.
You don't have to ride a horse to appreciate this show, and everyone is welcome to stop by their opening reception 6-9 p.m. on September 17 th . There might even be a special performance by Equine Dell Arte so the night could be full of surprises.
