Hooray! Stolen Maltese reunited with owner

Peewee has been found and has happily been reunited with his family!

Thankfully Magdalena Lopez's nephew was watching FOX 11 and Good Day LA Wednesday morning when I reported the latest twist in the story of this stolen pooch.

He quickly realized that Peewee was the dog that his aunt's neighbor had found and given to her.

Lopez, who has a Maltese of her own, said she tried finding the owner but had no luck so she was taking care of him.

And what great care and love she gave him!

After watching our story online, she immediately called LAPD detectives Holmberg and Jones and Peewee was reunited with his family.

Thank you Magdalena for doing the right thing, in this story where so many people didn't.

Thank you Megan and Ben for trusting me to tell your story.

And a special thank you to Captain Lillian Carranza of the LAPD Van Nuys station, Lt Greg Hoyte and Detectives Todd Holmberg and Ron Jones for understanding how much this little dog meant to a family.

And for graciously responding to all my calls on this case.

To my photographer Tony Buttitta who rushed back to work when he heard Peewee had been found.

It takes a village and this was one awesome team.

As for the person who stole Peewee and started this drama and the couple who found and then dumped him, as they say in TV, no comment.
