Homemade candles lead to evacuation of Antelope Valley mall

(FOX 11) - A "suspicious package" that forced the evacuation of a Palmdale mall turned out to be a couple of homemade candles.

The Antelope Valley mall was evacuated this afternoon after a suspicious package was seen at the mall's entrance.

The bomb squad was called in, and found the package contained a couple of mason jars that has been turned into homemade candles, with wicks sticking out the top.

The woman that left the candles returned to the scene and said she had left the candles for a friend to pick up

She apologized and has not been charged with any crimes.
