Heroes Among Us: Orange County nonprofit ramps up delivery service to feed thousands in need

An Orange County nonprofit organization has dramatically ramped up its meal deliveries to feed people in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bracken’s Kitchen in Garden Grove normally cooks and distributes 5,000 meals a week.  Now, the demand had jumped to more than 30,000 meals.

The organization was founded in 2013 by Bill Bracken, who once worked as an Executive Chef at five-star restaurants and hotels across the West.

Bill followed his true passion — feeding those who need it most.

Thousands depend on these meals, including seniors and veterans.

Our FOX11 crew also went on a delivery run, where meals were taken to families with children dealing with life-threatening illnesses and to families with foster children.

Bracken has also hired skilled cooks who lost their jobs due to restaurant closures in order to keep up with the demand.

To help Bracken and his team make a difference and to help people who need a helping hand during this time, please donate: https://www.brackenskitchen.com/emergency-response-fund
