Hainan Airlines begins non-stop service to China from LAX

Hainan Airlines began the only nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and central China on Thursday, offering flights to Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province.

Airline and LAX officials inaugurated the service at a midday media event at the airport, with the first flight departing at about 12:30 p.m.

The service will be offered aboard Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

According to the airport, the flight marks the first Hainan Airline service at LAX. The airline also offers service between China and Chicago, Boston, Toronto, San Jose and Seattle.

The airline is a mileage partner with Alaska Airlines.
