GLAAD celebrates 29th annual Media Awards

Thursday, April 12th was a big night in the 90210! GLAAD celebrated its 29th annual Media Awards! It was said to be their largest carpet yet! The GLAAD organization has been at the forefront of cultural change, accelerating acceptance for the LGBTQ community. The evening was hosted by Actress/Comedian Wanda Sykes and honored Actor Jim Parsons with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award and Pop Princess Britney Spears with The Vanguard Award.

Brooklyn 99 on FOX took home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, This Is Us on NBC won for Outsanding Drama Series, and Andi Mack on the Disney Channel took home the award for Outsanding Kids & Family Programming.

Speaking of Brit Brit! EVERYONE (including myself) was super excited to see her and share the night with her! It was even a major talking point on the red carpet. Stars like: Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Dennis O'Hare, Nafessa Williams, Gus Kenworthy, Fortune Feimster, Karamo Brown, Miss Lawrence, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Betty Who, and Brock Ciarlelli chatted with me about the night AND told me their favorite Britney Spears song...impressions too!

The evening also helps fund GLAAD's work year round to build support for equality and representation amongst the LGBTQ community. For more information on GLAAD, go to: www.glaad.org
