DUI police pursuit ends in Norwalk with crash involving deputy

NORWALK, Calif. (FOX 11) - An apparent DUI driver is in custody Friday night after leading police on a pursuit that ended in a crash with a sheriff's deputy in a Norwalk neighborhood.

After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into police custody in the area of Bechard Avenue and Oland Street.

Helicopter aerial video showed a white Dodge Charger that had collided with a deputy's patrol car near Cheshire Street and Caulfield Avenue. Both vehicles were damaged.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office tweeted that the deputy involved in the collision was injured but in stable condition and recovering at a local hospital.

No further details were immediately known.
