Driver Arrested For Alleged Hit-And-Run In Downtown LA; 6 Injured

(FOX 11/CNS) A 35-year-old driver was arrested Saturday in downtown Los Angeles on suspicion of felony hit-and-run for injuring six people when he hit two pedestrians and struck a vehicle, police said.

All six victims and the motorist were taken to the hospital after paramedics were dispatched to the 800 block of South Main Street at 10:46 a.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

None of the injuries was considered life threatening.

"A DUI investigation will take place," said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's media relations office. "All of this happened in a four-to-five block radius, so it happened quickly."

An officer on a motorcycle tried to pull over the motorist, the lone occupant in his vehicle, for a traffic violation at Fourth and Wall streets, Lopez said. As the officer followed him, the motorist allegedly hit a woman and a girl at Eighth and Main streets.

The vehicle continued, where it hit another vehicle on Ninth and Main streets, according to Lopez. Four people were inside that vehicle and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Lopez said he had no description of the suspect's vehicle.
