Downey liquor store homicide suspect charged with murder, 8 counts of assault

The man suspected of killing a Downey liquor store owner and shooting at police during a wild pursuit that ended in Vernon on May 10, has been charged with murder and eight counts of assault with a firearm on a peace officer.

Torrance resident Dylan Andres Lindsey, 24, remains hospitalized after being shot by police and suffering a self-inflicted gunshot to the head during the pursuit and shootout incident. No date has been set for an arraignment.

Lindsey is accused of killing 44-year-old Gurpreet Singh at the ASL Liquor Market on May 7, 2019. Detectives investigating that homicide received tips on a possible murder suspect in the case, which led them to a home in Maywood where the pursuit began.

During the chase, the suspect was seen shooting out of the passenger-side window at police with a large-caliber revolver. No officers were injured but investigators say one bystander was grazed by gunfire.

The driver, 37-year-old Alison Hart, has been charged with fleeing a pursuing peace officer while driving recklessly and being an accessory after the fact. Her attorney says she was a victim manipulated by Lindsey. Her arrangement is scheduled for June 4, 2019 in Norwalk.
