Deadly deputy-involved shooting in Lake Hills neighborhood of Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (FOX 11) - The Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigated a deadly deputy-involved shooting that occurred in the 17700 block of Cedarwood Drive near Lake Mathews.

The Sheriff's Department said deputies were sent to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance in the Lake Hills neighborhood, just north of Lake Mathews, but during the investigation, an individual shot at a deputy striking him. That deputy was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Deputies returned fire and killed the suspect. The incident happened at about 7:11 p.m. Tuesday.

The immediate area has been closed for the investigation. Authorities did not immediately release additional information.
