Child struck by car while walking on a sidewalk in Canyon Country

CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. (FOX 11) - A child is recovering after being hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk with other children in Canyon Country Monday afternoon.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office says the driver lost control of the car and drove into the sidewalk, striking the child and a traffic signal pole. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision.

The crash happened at about 3 p.m. in the area of Golden Valley Road and Via Princessa near an elementary school.

The child was airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
