Child killed in violent Pomona crash

A child lost his life in a violent crash in Pomona Tuesday afternoon.

The age and gender of the child were not immediately released. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators. Police are working to figure out what exactly caused the crash.

It's unknown if anyone has been taken into custody in connection with this deadly collision.

Pomona police asked the public to avoid the area of White Avenue near Fairplex for the next several hours while investigators work to piece together what happened.

The crash was first reported at about 4:20 p.m. Two vehicles were involved. Police say a vehicle traveling northbound on White Avenue crossed the center divider for unknown reasons and struck a vehicle traveling southbound. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital.
