Car crashes into fire hydrant sending water gushing feet into air at Exposition Park

A vehicle crash in Exposition Park Wednesday night sheared a fire hydrant and sent water gushing more than 100 feet into the air.

Emergency crews responded to the crash shortly after 8 p.m. in the 3700 block of South Main Street, near 37th Street.

No injuries were reported, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The driver was able to get out of the car, which was stuck under the geyser.

The Department of Water and Power (DWP) was called out to assist firefighters in getting the water shut off.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
