Caltrans to close ramps on 405 near LAX for construction starting Tuesday night

Caltrans announced plans to fully close ramps on the 405 Freeway starting Tuesday night in the city of Inglewood for a construction project. Travelers are encouraged to plan alternate routes to Los Angeles International Airport.

Starting Tuesday, February 19, to Thursday, February 21, the following closures will be i% INLINE %n place:

Southbound I-405:

-- Eastbound Century Blvd. off-ramp from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
-- Eastbound Century Blvd. on-ramp from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Northbound I-405:

-- Century Blvd. on and off-ramp from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Some closures may start and end later. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists traveling on the 405 are encouraged to use westbound Interstate 105 (I-105) as an alternate route to LAX. Drivers should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes or avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.

The project on the 405 stretches from Port Rd. in Culver City to I-105. The works includes, installation of roadside pavement, Maintenance Vehicle Pullouts (MVPs) and vegetation control.

The project will also include installation of sleeves for existing sign posts, access gates, vine planting at sound wall locations to deter graffiti, installation of cable railings, and improvements to irrigation systems. The estimated completion for the project is spring 2019.
