Brush fire burning in Piru community of Ventura County

Firefighters are battling a brush fire in Piru, Ventura County, Thursday night that has already scorched at least three acres.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is working with the Ventura County Fire Department to put out the slow-moving brush fire in the area of Highway 126 and Torrey Road.

Fortunately, there are not a lot of winds in the area, which could help firefighters who have requested helicopters with night capabilities to mount an aerial attack on the blaze.

No homes or structures are threatened at this time.

Although the cause of the fire is under investigation, early reports indicate the fire may have been sparked by downed power lines. Southern California Edison crews are on scene.

No further details were immediately known.
