Boulder smashes into car on Malibu Cyn Road

(FOX 11) - A major Malibu artery is back open after a boulder collided with a car Monday afternoon.

Malibu Canyon Road was closed off between Piuma Road and Francisco around 1:30 p.m.

CHP says, a boulder came crashing down right as a white Ford Fusion was driving on Malibu Canyon Road.

CHP says it appears the Ford crashed into the boulder.

They say three people were inside, and one in the back complained of minor pain and was taken to the hospital.

LA Firefighters ordered the canyon closed due to being unstable

A geologist accessed that the integrity of the hillside was ok and roads were re-opened around 5:15 p.m., about 2 hours earlier than expected.
