Baby cockatiel stolen from West LA pet store
WEST LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - A baby cockatiel was taken on Friday from a West LA pet store. The owners of Omar's Exotic Birds have released surveillance video in hopes of finding the man who took the bird.
The video shows a man in a plaid shirt coming into the store at Wilshire and Sepulveda to have his own parakeet groomed.
But later, the video shows the man's hands are cupped. The owners say he's hiding a baby cockatiel that he took out of a cage.
The video continues to show the man squatting and looking around before putting the bird in his parakeet's cage and leaving the store.
The owners say the bird is only 8-weeks old and wasn't yet for sale. The store generally sells weaned cockatiels for $179.
