Authorities investigating discovery of human remains in Malibu

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating human remains discovered in Malibu on Jan. 21 at about 3 p.m.

Homicide detectives and LA County Coroner investigators canvassed the area Tuesday morning for any evidence they could find after waiting until daylight to continue their investigation.

Authorities say the body parts were found at the intersection of Latigo Canyon Road and Calicut Road. The gender or identity of the person whose remains were found is not known at this time. It's unclear how long the remains had been there.
