At least 300 anti-Trump protesters in front of CNN building in Hollywood

About 300 Los Angeles area anti-Donald J. Trump demonstrators today began a trek on the outskirts of Hollywood to outside CNN studios in Central Hollywood.

The walk began about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue, and went to the CNN Hollywood Studios at Sunset and Cahuenga boulevards, according to Officer Sal Ramirez of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.

"So far it's been peaceful," Ramirez said.

Two of the three eastbound lanes on Hollywood Boulevard, as protestors took the curb lane and police guarded them in the center eastbound lane.

Twelve blocks away, on Saturday, police estimated that 20 pro-Trump activists had gathered at his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Dozens of people gathered at City Hall Saturday night and the crowd grew to about 300 according to media accounts. The group took to the streets for hours.

The Saturday evening protest was much smaller than the demonstration with approximately 10,000 people earlier in the day, which converged on MacArthur Park at 10 a.m. and embarked on an almost 4-mile walk downtown to the Edward Roybal Federal Building.

It was organized by the Union del Barrio activist group and was joined by several other organizations. There were no arrests in the morning in contrast to protests the previous evenings.

The nightly protests led the Firefighter Cancer Support Network to postpone its 11th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Fundraiser at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel downtown, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department
said.

Organizers did not want to impact the protesters or the guests, Humphrey said.

There have been four consecutive days of anti-Trump protests on downtown streets.

Police arrested five people at a downtown Los Angeles area anti-Donald J. Trump protest that wound down early today.

Four adults were arrested for vandalism and one juvenile was arrested for battery on an officer, said LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes of the Media Relations Section.

"Long after most of the protesters went home, the vast majority of Angelenos proved to the world you can speak your mind in a safe and respectful way,' the police department said in a news statement issued at midmorning.

"The LAPD is steadfastly committed to ensuring constitutionally protected expressions of speech are conducted in a safe and secure environment.'

Some 187 adults and eight juveniles were arrested when a throng estimated at 3,000 people marched through downtown Los Angeles into Westlake late Friday night and back again early Saturday morning, assembling in Grand Park across from City Hall.

The LAPD then issued an order to disperse and began making arrests, according to LAPD Officer Tony Im.

The local demonstrations are among several that took place across the country. Protesters also demonstrated in Portland, Oregon where police made more than 20 arrests and used flash bang grenades and other less-than-lethal force to clear the streets.

Demonstrations also erupted in New York City, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Louisville, Kentucky and Baltimore.
