Arrest made in Santa Ana stabbing, kidnapping

A man was stabbed to death in Santa Ana early Saturday, by a man who also stabbed and kidnapped a woman before he was brought into custody, authorities said.

Police arrested 38-year-old Teodoro Bernal Nunez who will be booked for murder, attempted murder and kidnapping.

Police were called at 1:30 a.m. to a residence on S. Oak Street, east of the Orange Freeway, where they discovered a man dead from stab wounds, Sgt. Kanan Blake of the Santa Ana Police Department said.

Witnesses on scene said the suspect stabbed a man and a woman, then dragged the woman to a black SUV before leaving the scene, according to Blake.

Police in Brea -- which is about 14 miles away from the residence -- then informed authorities in Santa Ana they had the suspect in custody, Blake said.

The woman, who suffered a wound to the upper torso, was listed in stable condition early today.

A court order restraining the suspect from contacting the female victim had been issued and was active. Authorities are looking into the extent of their relationship.

The names of the deceased man and wounded woman were not released.
