Armed man prompts evacuations in downtown L.A. taken into custody
(FOX 11/CNS) - A man possibly armed with a gun barricaded himself in a building in downtown Los Angeles on Monday.
Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. to a report of a man with a gun in the 600 block of East Second Street, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
The man refused to come out so evacuations were ordered and a SWAT team was summoned, Lopez said.
The standoff was continuing about two hours after police were called to the scene.
LAPD on scene confirms the suicidal man has been taken into custody peacefully after he was barricaded with a gun. No injuries have been reported.
