All-star American Band to Back a Russian Ballet

(FOX 11) Classical ballet takes on an all-American twist. A show called Heart of Storm pairs an all-star American rock band with Russian ballet dancers. Heart of Storm makes it U.S. debut Friday and Saturday with free tickets being offered for the Los Angeles shows.

The ballet on stage is striking. Even at rehearsal the sound is live and loud. The Russian dancers are encouraged to enter new emotional territory through the live band backing them. It's a uniting of nations say organizers.

The boys in the band are names fans will know. On the ticket, fans will find guitarist Doug Aldrich of Whitesnake and Dio. On keyboard, you'll see Derek Sherinian, with Alice Cooper and Kiss on his resume. Dancers come with a history in the Bolshoi Theater, from Swan Lake to the Nutcracker.
