Pursuit termination leads to multi-vehicle crash

Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash as officers were chasing a suspect on the southbound side of the 605 Freeway.

DOWNEY, Calif. - A police chase that was initiated by Whittier Police Department officers ended in a crash on the 605 Freeway in Downey, officials said. 

What we know:

Aerial images from SkyFOX showed cars pulled over on the shoulder of the southbound side of the freeway as traffic backed up for miles. 

The California Highway Patrol was assisting with traffic control and shut down three lanes near Firestone Boulevard. 

A CHP vehicle was among several vehicles damaged in the crash. However, no injuries were reported.

Less than 30 minutes after the crash, the carpool and two other lanes were reopened to traffic.
