6-year-old girl killed, 5 injured in Palmdale crash

A 6-year-old girl was killed and five other people injured following a two-vehicle crash in Palmdale, according to the sheriff's department. 

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Pearblossom Highway and 25th Street East, authorities said. 

A 55-year-old woman driving a northbound 2022 gray Subaru Outback allegedly ran a red light and struck an eastbound 2014 Toyota Camry, which entered the intersection on a green traffic light.

The Toyota Camry broadsided the Subaru Outback in the intersection, officials said. 

Six people were taken to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The 6-year-old girl died at the hospital and the five others suffered minor to serious injuries, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing.
