2 injured in building explosion in Canoga Park

Two people were injured by an explosion at a commercial building in Canoga Park on Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to the building, located at 7851 N Alabama Avenue, around 11 a.m. Officials said the explosion occurred in one of the units in the building. Two additional units were damaged and the building has a partial roof collapse. There was no active fire when firefighters arrived at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The circumstances surrounding the explosion remain under investigation.

Hose lines are being deployed as a precaution. Fire officials will not be attempting to enter the building at this time due to possible compromise to the building's structural integrity. Building and safety inspectors have been notified.

Officials said two patients have been transported to a local trauma center in unknown condition.
