1 person killed, others critically injured in Corona stabbing, police say

One person was killed and several others critically injured in a stabbing late Monday afternoon in Corona, police say.

One person was detained at the scene in connection with the crime and police say there is no threat to the public.

Just before 5 p.m. on April 15, police officers were called to investigate a report of a fight occurring in the 1300 block of Turquoise Drive, but while driving to the scene, a stabbing occurred, according to the Corona Police Department.

One male victim was located in the street and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. It's unclear how many others were injured but authorities say the injured victims were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

The identity of the person killed was not immediately released. Police do not know what sparked the fight and it's unclear if the person they took into custody is the suspected stabber.

The suspect has yet to be identified.
