4.8M earthquake strikes near Bakersfield - At 4:20pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, a 4.8 earthquake struck 22 miles west-north west of Bakersfield, California.
The preliminary report indicated that the earthquake was a 4.9 magnitude earthquake. There have been no initial reports of damage.
