Wednesday's Child

Victor (2004) is a sociable and likable young man with an old soul.  He is one of a few teenagers who really does enjoy the company of people older than he. That may be why he actively participates in a mentor program. 

The month of May was National Foster Care Awareness month and LA County DCFS and Wednesday’s Child partnered once again with the Mixed Roots Foundation to raise awareness, and to bring over 300 foster children (many of them had never been to a baseball game) to see the Dodgers taking on the Phillies.

Joanna (2011) is a little girl full of joy and happiness, and is waiting for her place with a forever family. We met up with Joanna at a local park for some bubbles, jungle gym activity and some digging.  Joanna fascinates herself with a lot – she’s incredibly sociable, friendly, and loves to play with other children.  

Congratulations to FOX 11’s Christine Devine, honored on Tuesday by the LA County Board of Supervisors for her terrific work with Wednesday’s Child. She’s been helping children in foster care find forever families for 20 years.

We caught up with a former foster youth once on Wednesdays Child, 26-year-old Tyraughn. Ty shared the story of a dream day in which he was featured on a YouTube series called Sugar, produced by Adam Levine of Maroon 5.  

Back in 2012, “Dancing with the Stars” was a thing and Jonathan, 14 years old at the time was on Wednesday’s Child, searching for a forever family.
