Two killed in Lamborghini crash in Encino; authorities say speed was a factor
ENCINO, Calif. (FOX 11) - Two people were killed on Wednesday night when the Lamborghini they were riding in crashed into an SUV, then struck a tree and caught fire in Encino.
The Los Angeles Police Department said that the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at Burbank Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue.
The 25-year-old driver and a 19-year-old woman in the passenger's seat were both killed. Police said that the sports car was traveling eastbound on Burbank Blvd. at speeds over 100 mph when it struck the SUV. The crash left the Lamborghini sheared in half.
Authorities said that one of the victims died inside the vehicle, the other appeared to have been ejected. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger killed was identified as 19-year-old Luiza Karakhanyan. The driver was identified as 25-year-old Joel David White, of Long Beach.
The driver of the SUV suffered only minor injuries as a result of the crash, officials said.
